Hydropower, modernisation and turbine optimisation at Hydro 2026

From 14 to 16 October, we will be exhibiting at Hydro 2026 at the Bologna Congress Centre and look forward to welcoming you to our stand No. 121 and discussing modern hydropower, the revitalisation of existing plants and efficient turbine technology in person.

In addition to our exhibition stand, we will contribute to the conference programme with a technical presentation. Using a real-world project, we will demonstrate how historic hydropower plants can be technically and economically prepared for the future.

Technical presentation: Revitalising a Historic Hydropower Plant - Upgrading from Francis to Kaplan Turbines

Our technical paper focuses on the modernisation of the historic Cramberg hydropower plant in Germany. Commissioned in 1927, this run-of-river plant on the River Lahn underwent an extensive refurbishment between 2022 and 2024.

A key element was the conversion of two Francis turbines to modern Kaplan turbines.
